Description
A NEW DATE WILL BE SET SOON.
This is an introductory course suitable for all students wanting to investigate screen printing, stenciling, block printing, free hand machine embroidery and appliqué. No previous experience or ability to draw is required. Places are limited.
It is the intention of this course that by the end of the weekend you will have learnt the basic skills in screen printing, stencilling and block printing with textile ink on to fabric. I have added to this Free Hand Embroidery and Appliqué to enable you to use your sewing machine as a creative drawing tool.
The first day of this course will consist of a series of demonstrations and time given for you to work in small groups and try out all of these skills. At the end of the day you will nominate which skills you would like to investigate further so as I can set up a working space for you on Sunday.
I recommend that you do not limit yourself to making a textile that has a function but rather spend the time learning and exploring the techniques demonstrated.
I will provide screens, pre-cut stencils and blocks, fabric scraps and threads. If you can bring your sewing machine and toolbox of feet all the better.
