BOUTIQUE AND WORKSHOP spring hours Thursday, Friday and Sunday 11 - 4 pm.
On Saturday I attend The Nelson Market 8 - 1 pm (unless raining)
Spring opening hours in October and November will be Thursday, Friday and Sunday 11 -4 pm.
I will open my workshop for the Labour Day public holiday on Monday 26 October 11-4 pm
Bridal consultations by appointment Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
While we are in COVID 19 lockdown level 1 there is a Nelson Saturday Market. I am at the ‘Bin Inn’ end of the market from 8-1pm. If it should be raining or heavy rain is forecast for a Saturday then I will be at my Founders Park Workshop 10-1pm. A great place to try on skirts, tops and review t shirt designs.
The MADCAT boutique and workshop is located in the Old Anchor Inn, a beautifully restored villa within Founders Heritage Park, open air museum in Nelson. It is easy to find on Atawhai Drive, distinguishable by the old windmill that still has its functioning blades. It is on a bus route or it is a short walk from the city centre. There is a large free car park. Founders Park is well worth a visit. It has a café, a small train that runs on Sundays and various obsolete vehicles for children to play on including a full size aeroplane, fire engine and crane. There are other artisan workshops to visit within the park and static historic displays.
There is an entry fee to the park itself but this is waived if you are only intending to visit my workshop. You just mention this to the receptionist situated within the Windmill. The park regularly hosts music, food and beer festivals. If you would like to visit me during these festivals please contact me and I will meet you at the entrance and take you in through another gate that is closer to my workshop.
The MADCAT workshop houses the large cutting table and machinery. The textile printing tables are on the verandah. I am happy to talk you through my design process and show you examples of my design work at different stages of completion. Please contact me if you wish to visit in a group of 6 or more so I can set aside time to show you around. Some days are very busy especially in Summer. I post details of the day and time I am planning to screenprint on my FaceBook page in Summer, but in Winter when the weather is unpredictable I can only print when the weather allows.
Within my boutique there is a room set aside for MADCAT skirts, tops and T shirts together with a changing room for trying on garments.
I store pieces of all my printed textiles so you can choose your own fabric which I can then make into a skirt and send to anywhere in the world where there is a postal service. I do not charge extra for a made to measure skirt providing you can come into the workshop for me to measure you. I can make alterations to any skirt to ensure a good fit while you walk around the park or visit the café.
There are two rooms within my boutique set aside to display wedding dresses, bridal wear and corsets. I close the workshop for an hour when I have a bride visiting to ensure I can give undivided attention to discuss her dress or work on fittings.
