I do not like ordering online. I prefer the person to person approach?
Yes sometimes I feel that way too. Please contact me and we can talk through your options. Your skirt can be ordered over the phone using your credit card details or by internet banking. Please keep your calls to within 10-5 pm Sunday – Friday, NZ time.
If I don’t like my skirt can I get my money back?
Yes, your money will be refunded in full, but only if it is an unworn, stock sized, full priced MADCAT garment. Please see full details especially the timelines stated in the RETURNS AND EXCHANGES page. No reason is required – you can just change your mind.
The exception to this is Reduced price, on Sale, Altered and Made to Measure garments. These items cannot be returned.
Made to Measure garments will be altered to your satisfaction at no extra cost. Change of mind refunds are not possible on made to measure garments. They have been printed and made up specifically to your requirements and therefore not suitable to be resold.
I want to re-order but I am not sure what size I had in the past?
Hopefully this explanation will solve the mystery to enable you to order. If not contact me and we can talk it through.
To help you define the shape of your skirt please look at the hem. Most straight skirts have a 9 cm hem and flared skirts have a 5 cm hem.
If you are still not sure, flared skirts have 2cm side seams and most straight skirts do not have side seams.
To help you decide on the size please look for the letter S, M, L or R written just inside of the MADCAT label sewn into the waistband. Sadly this does wash out in time so this information may be of no help to you.
If what size to order is still a problem then please take the following measurements of your MADCAT skirt and between us we will sort it out.
Waist – join up the hook and eye and lay the waistband flat against a ruler, this will give you half the waist measurement.
Hip – (for a straight skirt only) lay the hem of your skirt flat against a ruler and you will have half your hip measurement.
Length – this is defined on the side seam taken from just under the waist band to the bottom edge of the finished hem. Small, Medium and Large skirts are different lengths depending on their size. Large, Extra Large and 18 or Reubens size skirts are the same length.

I ordered a MADCAT skirt in the past do you keep my details and measurements?
All MADCAT skirts ordered since 2012 are kept in a paper filing system. They are filed under your first name with your email address used as confirmation. If you think you may have altered shape a little you can always order a skirt for example with 1 cm added to the waistband.
If the skirt I have ordered does not fit, what are my options?
There are lots of options please go to the page RETURNS AND EXCHANGES for details and timelines. If it is easier just contact me and we can talk it through.
I bought a MADCAT skirt in an opp shop / second hand clothing boutique. It does not fit. Can you alter it for me?
Yes, no problem please go to the page RETURNS AND EXCHANGES to see costs involved or contact me and we can take it from there.
I am looking for a skirt in a different colour to what you have on this website?
There are more colours but not all are available in all designs. Please contact me and we can talk through your options. I can send you photographs or swatches to help you decide.
I am not sure what the exact colours are?
Each computer screen represents colour in a different way and if you are trying to match colours together this can be difficult. I am happy to post to you swatches of the plain coloured fabrics to help you make the decision. There is no cost for this service.
Is it possible to order say, the Hen Party design in the purple fabric shown as an option for the Fantail skirt?
Yes that is possible. All the base fabrics shown on this site are available in all 10 of the textile designs in all sizes. In reality not all the textile designs look good printed on all the different colours. I have therefore made a selection for the website. Please contact me if there is a combination of design and fabric colour you would like and we can talk it through. I am open to your ideas.
I like the Fantail skirt but can you just print me one Fantail on the side of my skirt?
Sadly no. This is a commercial decision. All my textile designs are printed as a single image and no changes are possible.
Do you print your designs in other colours. I am not sure if I want a black print?
Sorry – I only print in black onto a coloured ground. This is for commercial reasons as I need to limit the choice of designs available. I have 10 different textile designs printed on up to 6 different coloured base fabrics. All the base fabrics are the same quality, easy care – Viscose, Nylon and Lycra fabric.
Can I have a discount if I order more than one skirt?
Discounts are considered for orders of 5 or more garments. Please contact me to discuss this further.
Do you wholesale your skirts?
The current range of MADCAT skirts are not available for wholesale. I only sell direct through this website, the MADCAT boutique and the Nelson Market. I do visit the Thorndon Christmas market in Wellington with my skirt range each year.
I am coming to Nelson can I call in and visit your workshop?
I welcome visitors to my workshop. Please contact me if my current opening hours do not fit in with your plans or you are a party of more than 6 people. Admission fees to Founders Heritage park are waived for customers wanting to visit only my workshop. Please go to Boutique and Workshop page for more information.
