Pattern Cutting and Design Workshops
May – July 2016
MADCAT Ltd director Jill Alexander is offering a series of pattern cutting and design workshops from May to July 2016. Jill will use her 40 years of experience to teach you how to approach pattern cutting theory in 3D, which you will then be able to apply to your own unique designs.
Five week pattern cutting courses:
Stage 1: Theory $175* (5 weeks)
Wednesday 6 – 8.30pm (4 May – 1 June 2016)
Thursday 10am -12.30pm (5 May – 2 June 2016)
This course is targeted at those that have a design in mind, but can’t find the pattern. You will develop your own practical reference book full of examples on how to move darts, develop panels and yokes and add flares, pleats and gathers. Pattern cutting for zip and button openings will be explored together with how to change necklines and cut facings.
Stage 2: Skirt Block $175* (5 weeks)
Wednesday 6 – 8.30pm (8 June – 6 July 2016)
Thursday 10am – 12.30pm (9 June – 7 July)
In this course you will learn how to measure and fit different figure shapes for skirts. You will draft and make a personal fit straight skirt block. This will enable you to apply your own pattern cutting theory skills to draft most skirt patterns you can design.
Fashion design: One day workshop $150*
Sunday 22 May 10am – 4pm
This course will enable you to take your garment design ideas through into drawing and draping. It is aimed at those without any prior design training.
*Course fee covers all materials required to participate in the workshop, and includes a personalised certificate of competency upon completion.
